Ministry for Home Affairs, Education and Environment


    The Ministry for Home Affairs, Education and Environment brings together three key fields of responsibility.

    The Ministry for Home Affairs is responsible for public security, civil protection, rescue services, political rights, national and municipal citizenship, registry offices and aliens' law. 

    The Education Department encompasses planning and information in the field of public-sector schooling, private schools, universities and similar institutions, the School of Art and the School of Music. Further key topics are basic occupational training and further occupational training, as well as occupational, study and careers advice, adult education and integration in international education programmes.

    The Department for Environment consists of the fields of forestry and landscape, environmental protection and  farming, together with their respective differentiated specialist issues. In addition to national environmental policy, the activities of this department also include integration in international environment and climate policies.
