Economic Affairs

Central objectives in the economic field include safeguarding and optimising favourable operating conditions for companies operating in Liechtenstein, while boosting their innovative potential. To ensure competitiveness and discrimination-free access to international markets, great importance is placed on cooperation at the bilateral, European and international level.  

Key tasks of the Department for Economic Affairs include supporting industry and commerce as well as promoting industrial and commercial research and development, competition law, intellectual property and consumer protection. Further important topics are employment law and occupational health and safety, the labour market and recruitment, unemployment insurance as well as occupational pension provisioning. The wide-ranging portfolio of responsibilities also includes energy, tourism, lottery and casinos, postal services, media and electronic communications.
