Home Affairs

The Ministry for Home Affairs, together with its associated Specialised Units, is responsible for security in the country as a whole and in the individual municipalities as well as for the protection of the population and all emergency services. Central tasks also include national and municipal civil rights, political civic rights, the civil registry service and laws concerning foreign citizens, in particular the movement of persons, asylum, integration and identity documents. The Ministry for Home Affairs is also responsible for supervising the Municipalities.

The Ministry for Home Affairs leads and coordinates domestic affairs based on the current laws. Moreover, the Ministry is tasked with following international developments and reacting promptly in order to take the steps necessary to protect national interests, in particular those related to the commitments made by Liechtenstein when joining the Schengen Agreement and the Dublin Regulation.
